Dakotah's Race Schedule-November 2010

November 20, 2010                            Eastbay Raceway Park, Eastbay Sprints-Dirt

November 27, 2010                            Eastbay Raceway Park, Top Gun Sprints on Dirt

Dakotah's Race Schedule-October 2010

October 1, 2010(Friday Night Race) Orlando Speedworld- TBARA
Results:  27 cars were at Orlando Speedworld.  Matt Mercer won Heat 1, Keith Butler won Heat 2, Dakotah won Heat 3.  Mercer and Dakotah were leading the pack for the first 5 laps when Mercer slowed and Dakotah moved to the number 1 spot.  On lap 23, lap traffic lead to a 3 wide pass that put Butler, Teate and Steele ahead of Dakotah and while racing for 4th position, Fritz and Dakotah clipped tires and put them both out of the race for the evening. Dakotah did a 360 in the air and smacked the wall. No one suffered injuries.  The #19 car of Dakotah's came to the pits on the rollback with destroyed wheels and not a straight bar in sight. Steele went on to dominate and win the feature. TBARA is known for being the best and most competitive winged sprint show in the nation but we also have a generation of bottom feeder drivers who fail to use the high side of the track to pass.

A special thank you goes out to drivers Steve H and Sonny O, for helping to put the broken car in the hauler. Much appreciation guys from Dakotah Stephens Racing.

October 23, 2010                               Citrus County Speedway, Inverness/CFWSCA
                                                            USAC Sanctioned Series for 2011

Results 10/23/10: Dakotah started 9th in Heat 1 and was only able to advance to 6th.  As a result, Dakotah started 11th out of 18 wingless sprints in the main feature.  There was much close racing and many cars passing throughout the 30 lap feature and Dakotah was able to finish  5th on the field.  It was an interesting race for the fans and drivers all.  There were spins, brake-checking restarts, black flags and one double file restart-old school NASCAR style: the lap cars started on the inside lane and the lead lap cars were in the outside lane for the last green flag start.  Brian Gingrass won the event, followed by Troy DeCaire, Mickey Kempgens, Gary Gimmler and Dakotah Stephens.

October 30, 2010                                Eastbay Raceway Park, Eastbay Sprints
Results: Started 12th at Eastbay out of 21 cars, and finshed 9th after a last lap spin. There must have been a zillion kids trick or treating during intermission. Fun nght and fun race. Danny Martn won, with Tim George comng in 2nd, Stephen Devalics 3rd, Lasker 4th and Billy Boyd 5th. Track was dry slick but had a super cushion for rim riding in 1 and 2.

USAC “SOUTHEAST SPRINT CAR SERIES” DEBUTS IN 2011

Sanctions the Central Florida Wingless Sprint Car Association

The USAC “Southeast Sprint Car Series” in 2011 will continue the great tradition of Florida ’s leading short-track open-wheel racing series as the series celebrates its 10th year of operation, featuring the finest asphalt drivers in the southeast.

“ Florida has always been a popular destination for race fans and we are delighted to again bring USAC’s brand to the Sunshine State for this exciting series,” says USAC President/CEO Kevin Miller . “We recognize the importance of pavement Sprint car racing and welcome these participants and fans into our motorsports family.”

Delivering high speed, no-fear racing action for the race fan both on the track and off, the series’ philosophy is to present high speed, heart pounding races for the fans but to also always include the fans with appreciation events such as bicycle giveaways, race simulators and autograph sessions.

The Central Florida Wingless Sprint Car Assoc. conceived in 2002 by Michael and Carla Rudolph, the series was designed to put the competition back into the hands of the drivers and to offer affordable racing to both the veterans and newcomers to the sport.

Champions of the Central Florida Wingless Sprint Car Association include 2009 co-champs Dakotah Stephens and Troy DeCaire, Jim Alvis (2008), Dennis Misuraca (2007), Scott Adema (2006), Charlie Linder (2005), Curtis Carter (2004), Tommy Nichols (2003) and Kevin Cahill (2002).

USAC’s Florida history includes competition in a number of different series, including the recent Bubba Army Sprint Car Nationals and quarter midget competition, with venues ranging from Orlando ’s Walt Disney World complex to Homestead’s high-speed oval. Of significant note is that USAC’s inaugural Sprint car race was held in Florida , a race held at West Palm Beach in 1956 won by Bob Sweikert, the previous year’s Indianapolis 500 champion.

The 2011 USAC Southeast Sprint Car Series calendar of events is currently being constructed and will be released when firm.

canceled weather

9/3/10    Ocala Speedway, Ocala, FL  Open Wheel Modified
It was a perfect night for racing at Ocala Speedway.  I started 9th and I finished 9th in the feature. We had 106 caution flags but hey, that's racing-right?  The #0 Better Leather/Tom Macaluso owned OWM  was an awesome car to drive.

9/4/10    Eastbay Raceway Park, Tampa, FL  Sprints on Dirt
19 sprint cars were in the line up for the Eastbay Sprints racing group.  Dakotah started 9th in Heat #1 and was going for 4th on lap 5 when he tangled with some other cars and crashed the front steering of his red #19 sprint.  Dakotah and wing man-Edgar went to work repairing damages and were ready to start the feature in position #13.  Dakotah advanced quickly through the field but his airfilter ended up on the track and left Dakotah with a 9th place overall finish.

9/17/10    Ocala Speedway, Ocala, FL  Open Wheel Modified
Dakotah reported the #0 Better Leather/Tom Macaluso owned OWM was handling like a dream on the 3/8 mile dry slick track.  Dakotah started 10th on the field in the main event, and he was tracking through the field until lap 22 of 25:  a  lap car crash trapped the #0 against the wall and finished Dakotah's bid for a Top 5 finish.

9/18/10  Desota Speedway, Bradenton, FL  TBARA Sprints

Finished 7th on the field for the race

9/25/10  Eastbay Raceway Park, Tampa, FL  Sprints on Dirt

TBARA RACING SCHEDULE 2010 www.tbara.net

FEB 6 – Citrus County Speedway
Dakotah kicked off the 2010 Race Season with a Heat Race Win.  He started 11th on the field and he moved up to 7th at the checker flag finish. The race was riddled with cautions-Dakotah's quick eye and reflexes missed 2 big ones. On Lap 1, a jam up into turn 1 put #55 riding the wall with all four tires, #2 was a cushion for #55 and turned him back onto the track where the #55 proceeded to race until his wing fell on lap 25.  Dakotah was working the high groove out of turn 3 and 4 all night and on lap 20,  he found the #78 and #15 car making contact in the bottom groove, with the #78 car spinning behind him while the #15
ricochetted in front of him into the front stretch wall.  Dakotah, his team and the #19 Ford Sprint Car are headed to the high speed New Smyrna Speedway for 2 days of racing action.

November 2009 Events

Citrus County Speedway
November 14, 2009-Results
Dakotah started 2nd and finished 2nd at Citrus County Speedway on 11/14/09.  He and Dude Teate were the front runners from green flag to checkered flag.  But at the end of the night, Dude was first followed by Dakotah in 2nd.  Some races just feel like a victory even when your 2nd and this was one for Dakotah Stephens Racing. Congratulations to Dude Teate and his team.

North-South Shootout
Concord Motor Speedway
November 7, 2009 RESULTS
Dakotah finished 7th at Concord Speedway.  He made the most with the equipment he had.  The #19 car started running out of fuel around lap 25 and he dropped a couple of spots from there.   TBARA  raced under unusual circumstances-The sun was up when we took the green flag and it was dark when we took the checkers.  This made for some interesting racing and changing track conditions.  A lot of drivers reported problems with the sun going down over turn 1, but Dave Steele was still the Superman at the end of the day.  Congratulations.  Concord is a dream track for the sprint drivers and the 1000's of fans loved the high speeds of the TBARA sprint cars.  We are invited back to the North-South Shootout 2010.  GREAT WEEKEND OVERALL.

November 6, 2009 Qualifying and Heats
Dakotah qualified 10th in the 22 car field.  Dakotah reports the motor could have used a little more heat and time would have been a little faster.
Dakotah's Qualifing time was 13.771.
Fast time was 13.1 by Troy DeCaire.
Dakotah started 4th in Heat #3 and finished 3rd.
Anticipate starting 3rd in the feature event.

360 SPRINTS(Asphalt)   TBARA Sanctioned

Saturday    Feb 7,   RACING Citrus County Speedway/TBARA
SATURDAY RESULTS: Dakotah debuts in the 2009 race season sporting a new number: #19.  Dakotah chose to commission Gary Powell-former OWM racer and artist to paint the #19 Asphalt Sprint car.  The new number is a reflection of Dakotah's age group being one of the youngest on the TBARA circuit and he wanted to partner with Gary Powell for a custom paint job with a nod to old school racing. Decals are convenient and often flashy but there is something special about a painted design on a race car. 30 cars strong were on hand at Citrus County on Saturday night.  Dakotah drove the feature with a lot of maturity and went on to finished the Saturday night TBARA Speedweeks opener in 6th place at Citrus County Speedway.  For full results, go to www.tbara.net

Saturday    Feb 8,   RACING New Smyrna Speedway/TBARA
